When morning comes, she is more than ready to get started. So her first day in the Citadel isn’t so productive. Swift as Moondancer is, the sun has long set when she arrives. The journey itself is fairly easy, though a little longer as it takes her most of the day to get there. She’s never been to this particular city, but she’s heard enough from Aemond’s travels inside the seven that she feels fairly confident going by herself. Once the permission comes via raven, Baela mounts Moondancer, heading in the direction of Oldtown. “Perhaps being a maester isn’t too far off of a reality, no?” he teases. There was much to plan and Vaemond chuckles at her request, securing permission for her to attend the lectures and study the Citadel’s resources on how to better make the journey. It was much similar to the ones that horses used to pull a cart except that this was meant to be used by a dragon. Together with the craftsman, they design a harness of sorts. Permission secured, the next day, Baela seeks out a craftsman, one of those who had made Moondancer’s saddle. “Well whatever resources you need, you’re welcome to them.” Though I might need to consult a craftsman or two for some help.” “I’m still working on a solution, but I’m thinking I could use a dragon to speed the journey. ![]() “But how do you plan to bring one over, dearest?” “Do you think Grandfather would like an elephant for his name day?” asks Baela over supper. Now the question remained – would he want an elephant? It was ambitious, but Baela was anything but not determined to get him a great gift. She’d taken trips to Essos before too and had access to his voyage journals, so it wouldn’t be starting from a blank slate either. She had a dragon, perhaps she could help speed up the journey in some manner? But regardless of that, this was the voyage that earned him the epithet ‘Sea Snake’. Unfortunately, the elephants he purchased didn't survive the voyage back. The first one to come to mind was one of his voyages to Qarth, returning with a multitude of treasures. Stumped, she tried to recall his past voyages, wondering if there was anything that stood out. The Sea Snake was a very wealthy lord – what did one gift a man who owned treasures from around the world? ![]() There were plenty of options, yet none of them appealed to her. While there was still quite some time, she wondered what she should gift him for his name day. The merchant ships with the Velaryon flag remind her much of her grandfather, who was once again traversing the seas on an expedition. ![]() As Baela finished listening to the day’s petition, she let her mind wander to other things as she observed the ships coming and going across the bay. Her return to Driftmark marks the return of her many unofficial duties, helping out her grandparents. ![]() Stats: Published: Completed: Words: 46605 Chapters: 14/14 Comments: 127 Kudos: 241 Bookmarks: 53 Hits: 5026 Daemon & Aemond could have been the ultimate menaces if there was no dance.Baela Targaryen & Rhaena Targaryen (Daughter of Daemon).Baela Targaryen & Corlys "The Sea Snake" Velaryon.Baela Targaryen & Rhaenys Targaryen Velaryon.Baela Targaryen & Vhagar | Visenya Targaryen's Dragon.Aemond "One-Eye" Targaryen & Vhagar | Visenya Targaryen's Dragon.Aemond "One-Eye" Targaryen & Daemon Targaryen.Aemond "One-Eye" Targaryen/Baela Targaryen.A Song of Ice and Fire & Related Fandoms.
